A young inspired Swiss designer: Philippe Bestenheider

 

Born in 1971 in Sion, Valais, Switzerland, Philippe Bestenheider studied architecture and industrial design in Switzerland and in Milan, Italy. From 2001 to 2006 he was Senior Designer in Patricia Urquiola's office in Milan, working for Moroso, Molteni, Agape, Alessi, Axor amongst others. In 2007 he opened his own studio, working between Switzerland and Milan. He is now working for Moroso, Pallucco and Nilufar Gallery.

Nanook Chair designed by Philippe Bestenheider for MOROSO Spa:

" Like the Inuit peoples who wear animal skins for protection, Nanook's technical-fabric upholstery has tribal echoes. "

The Nanook Collection is comprised of a chair, an armchair and a low table

 

Binta Armchair
Inspired by Africa the chair’s form is based on African wood carvings and the upholstery is based on Senegalese patchwork fabrics.
